Why this works

Delete specific pages from a PDF and keep the rest. The opposite of Extract Pages: list what to remove, get back the document without them.

Files never leave your device. This tool processes your PDF entirely in your browser using pdf-lib. Open your browser's Network tab while running this tool and you'll see zero outbound requests during processing — the verifiable basis for the claim. Switch to "Process on our server" only when you need server-grade processing for very large files.

Remove Pages does the inverse of Extract Pages. Where Extract creates a new PDF containing only listed pages, Remove Pages creates a new PDF excluding the listed pages. Use Remove when most of the document should stay and only a few pages need to go; use Extract when most of the document should go and only a few pages should stay.

Common cases. Internal copies marked external: a draft PDF has a cover note on page 1 marked “internal review only” — remove page 1 before sending the rest to a client. Duplicate scans: a sheet-fed scanner double-fed a page so the resulting PDF has the same page twice in a row — remove the duplicate. Confidential supplements: a report has appendix pages with sensitive details — remove them before publishing the abridged public version. Cover sheets: scanned documents often pick up a blank cover sheet from the scanner bed — remove the blank.

List the pages to remove using comma-separated ranges: `1, 3-5, 8` removes page 1, pages 3 through 5, and page 8. Remaining pages renumber automatically — if you removed pages 3-5 from a 10-page document, the resulting 7-page document is numbered 1-7 with the old pages 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 now positioned at 3, 4, 5, 6, 7.

Form fields, signatures, OCR text layers, and annotations on retained pages survive intact. Internal hyperlinks update automatically when the target page still exists; links pointing at removed pages become dead anchors.

The original PDF is read but never modified. Remove Pages produces a new output PDF; the input stays where it was.

If you need to also reorder the remaining pages, use Organize after Remove. If you need to remove specific images or text content rather than whole pages, use Edit PDF or Redact.

Privacy note: page removal runs entirely in your browser when you pick "Process in your browser" above the upload zone. The pages you specify are excluded locally via pdf-lib, the remaining pages are written to a new PDF in memory, and the result is delivered as a download. Your file never leaves your device. Particularly valuable when removing pages with sensitive content from documents destined for external sharing — the sensitive pages don't transit any server before being excluded.

Common questions

Can I run this tool without my file leaving my device?

Yes — this is one of the tools that supports our in-browser privacy mode. Pick "Process in your browser" above the upload zone and the entire operation runs locally via pdf-lib. Open the Network tab in your browser's DevTools while running the tool: you will see zero outbound requests during processing. That is the verifiable basis for the claim that your file never leaves your device. Server mode remains available for very large files or features that need server-grade processing.

What’s the difference between Remove Pages and Extract Pages?

Remove Pages excludes the listed pages, keeping everything else. Extract Pages keeps only the listed pages, excluding everything else. Pick Remove when most of the document should stay and a few pages should go; pick Extract for the inverse.

Will the remaining pages renumber?

Yes — the output has consecutive numbering starting at 1. If you removed pages 3-5 from a 10-page document, the resulting 7-page document is numbered 1-7. Visible page-number stamps on the original pages don’t auto-update; if you need to renumber visibly, use Page Numbers after Remove.

Will hyperlinks survive?

Links to retained pages update automatically to point at the new position. Links pointing at removed pages become dead anchors. External hyperlinks (to web URLs) are unaffected.

Can I undo a removal?

Not in the output — once a page is removed it’s gone from that file. But your uploaded original is unchanged, so you can re-upload and try again with a corrected page list.

How is this different from Split?

Split breaks one PDF into multiple output PDFs (one per page, range, or N-pages). Remove Pages produces a single PDF without the listed pages. Both can be used for similar end-results in some cases; Remove is direct for “exclude these specific pages”.

Will form fields on removed pages affect the output?

No. Form fields, signatures, and annotations on removed pages are removed along with the pages. Field names on retained pages stay intact.
